BARNSLEY GREYHOUND STADIUM

The independent flapping track in the Yorkshire town of Barnsley was located at Dillington Park with grid reference 1° 28' W 53° 32' N. The grid reference of the track on Highstone Road was SE3405. Racing began on the sand track in 1938,with sprint races over 240 metres, intermediate races over 368 metres and standard races over 462 metres.

The track was well supported, racing twice weekly, with mid-week meetings taking place on Wednesdays, and weekend meetings on Saturday evening. The track buildings were destroyed by a fire in 1990 and the track never reopened.
